Life is not the amount of breaths you take...

Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it's the moments that take your breath away.
Not sure who originally said this. Some say George Carlin (comedian). Others credit Hilary Cooper (painter). Usually, it shows up as “author unknown.” I was first introduced to it through the movie “Hitch.”
There are moments that happen in my life that make more and more aware of how great God is and how good God is. Nothing more so than the birth of a child – especially the birth of my children.
Miracle! A few days ago our little girl was born. It is amazing to be present when a child makes his/her first appearance into the world. It is a gross and beautiful mess. Our long and anticipating wait is finally concluded with the beautiful cry of a little baby. She is beautiful!
I see her as a physically beautiful baby even with her crooked nose and spotty skin and monkey fingers and toes. But the real beauty that is seen is the innocence, the frailty, the likeness I see in her of Cassie – of myself – of Cooper. The beauty is that she is mine. Mine to love, to protect, to teach, to enjoy and share life with. She is my beauty. God’s beautiful creation put in my care to understand Him more and to make Him know more.

God is great. He created Marley Kate and Cooper Wesley.
God is good. He has shared them with Cassie and myself.
It does not matter how long I get to live on this Earth. It only matters how many times God takes my breath away with His creations which allow me to know Him more and to fall more and more in love with Him. This moment is one of the best types. He shows me how to love Him more by allowing me to love more.
